The Gifting Edit: Mother's Day Treats!

Mother's day is one of my favourite times of the year. As a child, I loved surprising my grandmother with a bunch of handpicked flowers from our garden (and thankfully had some backup bought flowers that lasted longer than my daisies) and taking them to my gran's on Mothering Sunday. As a woman who was brought up by two impeccably strong women in my mother and my grandmother, I have always celebrated their love and support year-round, but more so on the day dedicated to them.
And while mothers have the perfect gift in their children and grandchildren, it is important to show how much you appreciate their worth and love on this special day. Be it a handmade gift or a pamper day, to luxury handbags to beauty products, all mum's and grandmums are different and my gift guide is hopefully here to help you find the perfect gift for your special lady.

Flowers

Flowers are a classic staple for any good gift. From the simple roses to an elegant filled bouquet there will always be something to suit your recipient. I gift flowers often. Very often. So I have judged my fair share of bouquets in my time, but a brand that never fails to impress me is Bloom & Wild. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to stunning arrangements that will put a smile on your loved one's face. From bouquets starting at £20, there is a gift for everyone. My personal favourite is their collaboration with luxury fashion brand, Boden (pictured above). I'm a lover of wildflowers and I love how rustic the overall look is. It was certainly a firm favourite in my household!

Handbags

Handbags are another staple for me, and my mum! I have a designer diva in a mother and while she always looks fabulous, I love challenging her style norms with new handbags for every occasion. While she loves a classic, contemporary look, she can style an edgier buy classy bag with aplomb. And a new favourite in my friends and family circuit is VVA Handbags. VVA specialise in creative customisation with high functionality and bundles of style points aplenty. I recently went to visit the brand's HQ and it was hard not to pitch up a tent and live in the studio. If you or your recipient is a lover of luxury handbags with high elements of personality then VVA is for you. From accessories starting from £28 and handbags from £110, there is a style, price, function and accessory for everyone, and between you and me, VVA is turning into one of my favourite brands.

I will be posting a special feature on the brand later this week and it is one that you definitely don't want to miss, so stay tuned!

Jewellery

I am a lover of the odd sparkle sparkle. I have my classic pieces and I have my 'going out' pieces. And these earrings from Ted Baker via Amara are right up my style street. Anyone else getting Dior vibes from them?
Jewellery is a great gift for mums and grans alike. I love gifting a piece that is something that my own mother wouldn't normally buy for herself and really surprise her.

Beauty

Now, having a beauty blogger as a daughter, my mum is treated very well in the beauty department. But she is a lover of beauty products and she knows what she likes, which makes for difficult gifting.
For her, I like to go for neutral toned products that I know she'd love, and with so many products to choose from with ranging prices, I'm sure you'll find something for your own lovely mum.

My go to brands are Bobbi Brown, Bare Minerals & Pixi.

Skincare

I recently wrote about two of my favourite skincare brands, Nuxe and Cowshed earlier on the blog, so I will link them here, and here

But skincare is a brilliant gift for mums for a day of pampering. It can be a simple facemask or a full on new and updated skincare routine, I don't know a mum that wouldn't love a day of bliss and pamper.

However when picking products to be sure to note of any allergies or unpleasant scents that may trigger your loved one, which is why I love using organic and natural brands like Nuxe & Cowshed that cater to soothing your skin and helping it glow!

Luxury Extras

Our final segment is the luxuries that your mum wouldn't buy for herself but you know will make her smile.

Chroma stationary is nailing it with personalised notebooks that they have designed exclusively for mother's day. I love the idea of a personalised anything and when I showed this to my own mum she was delighted about how 'fun' it looked to her. It's a great 'stocking stuffer' for your mum's gifts as they start at £8 for thier basic range and come in a variety of colours and styles.

BKR are a luxury brand of water bottles that are loved by celebrity mums and fashionistas alike. While it may seem ridiculous to spend £30 on a glass bottle, it is a trend and investment piece that your mum and yourself will love. And giving the gift of good health in a water bottle will keep her stylish when she's keeping up with her water intake.

Sheepskin slippers are also a firm favourite in our household. And with our dog! Luxury slippers are the height of cosiness when you slip out of your nice warm bath and into your fluffy slippers & dressing gown, and definitely works well with a pamper package! The ones above are from Moorlands of Glastonbury and they are as cosy and comfy as they look!

However you spend your mother's day this year I hope it is a great one for you all. It's also my pups 1st birthday on the 26th so its celebrations aplenty in my household! Enjoy all and make sure to tag me in your pictures!

  5. I love those wild flowers, they look so pretty. Not sure what I will get my mum for Mother's Day but will probably be flowers and a Yankee Candle as that's what I normally buy. I've seen Cow Shed products in M&S beauty section but haven't tried them, have heard that they are really good though :)

  6. I can't believe that we are already thinking about Mother's day. Once again, the year is flying by. My mum is super easy to buy for, though. Her and I have similar tastes.
